Mission

Fight Chat Control (https://fightchatcontrol.eu/) is a citizen-led initiative created to raise awareness about the European Union's proposed "Chat Control" regulation. Our mission is to inform EU citizens about this legislation, which threatens fundamental privacy rights and digital security by mandating the scanning of all private digital communications, including encrypted messages and photos.

We believe that privacy is a fundamental right, and that end-to-end encryption is essential for protecting our personal communications, financial information, and digital identities. The Chat Control proposal would undermine these protections, potentially exposing citizens to new security risks and surveillance without meaningful benefits. Our goal is to empower citizens with the knowledge they need to understand the implications of this legislation and to encourage them to take action by contacting their elected representatives in the European Parliament and national governments.

Our platform provides easy-to-understand information about the Chat Control proposal, tracks the positions of EU Member States, and helps citizens contact their representatives to express their concerns. We are not affiliated with any political party.

Privacy Policy

We do not track you.

This website does not use analytics tools, tracking cookies, or any other mechanisms to monitor visitor behavior. We do not collect personal information about our visitors. When you use our contact tool to email representatives, all processing happens locally in your browser. We do not store or transmit the content of your messages, and communications occur directly between you and the recipient through your own email client.

Cloudflare Caching

We use Cloudflare as a caching service to improve website performance and reliability. Cloudflare may temporarily process IP addresses and basic request information as part of its service, but this data is not used for tracking purposes and is not accessible to us for analytics. Thank you for visiting Fight Chat Control.

My name is Joachim and I am a Danish senior software engineer. I developed this website after embarrassingly realising that my government had decided not only to resurrect the CSAM, or Chat Control, legislation upon assuming the Presidency of the European Council, but proudly announced it as a "our" top priority. The proposed legislation not only threatens our fundamental rights to privacy and digital security, it undermines the very foundations and democratic principles upon which the European Union has been built. Indeed, it is my firm belief that the European Union should be a beacon of freedom, democracy, and human rights in the digital age.

Yet, when I wanted to raise my voice, I found doing so both complex and frustrating. Why should it be so difficult for citizens to engage with their elected representatives and express their concerns about legislation that affects us all? This website is my attempt of making it easier for citizens to understand the implications of the Chat Control proposal and to take action by contacting their representatives. The website and all associated costs are entirely self-funded. I have no affiliations with any political parties or organisations, and do not accept any donations. Over the past weeks, hundreds of MEPs and MPs have taken public stances against the proposal, and several member states have shifted stance following citizen pressure. I think this goes to show the power of raising our voices as individual citizens.
